I replaced the stock Hogue finger style grip with a Crimson Trace LG344 on my Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan 44 mag. While the laser feature is nice.....you give up comfort. The laser is not visible AT ALL in daylight. It's nice and bright indoors. The Crimson Trace have zero padding to help absorb recoil, where the Hogue grips have ample padding, not to mention the finger grips are very nice. I must add, the Crimson Trace is very comfortable to hold in your hand and appears to be high quality; my only gripe is it has zero padding to help with recoil. The video is rough I know and not the greatest, but there is such a lack of videos and reviews online on this subject. If I had known that they had the padding of a rock, I don't know if I would have paid $225 for these. I bought these new from an ebay store, so no returns, so I'm kind of stuck with them. Time will tell if they grow on me and I get used to the no padding. Like I said in the video, if Crimson Trace came out with a laser on the Hogue style grips......that would be a best seller. Update: I found in the directions what the two swab things are for; they are for cleaning the laser lens with alcohol. At the range, I had to adjust the lasers down and to the right about 2 inches both ways at 50 feet. Dead on at 50 now. I have come to notice that the Crimson grip feels better in my hand than the stock Hogue. I have a larger hand, so I believe this is why. As for the padding issue, would be nice, but it's not a deal ...
