Despite Taito's best efforts, the Saturn version of RayStorm (Layer Section 2) falls behind the PS1 port in almost every conceivable way. (Both games are the NTSC-J versions & recorded running at 60Hz.) 1. Texturing is less detailed & in some spots looks extremely rough. 2. The lack of real transparencies for the explosions & weapon effects is very noticeable. 3. The Saturn has horrible frame rate issues & this is possibly the worst fault that an arcade shooter could have. Not one of the Saturn's best days. :(

The Miami Heat were really, really bad in their Game 3 against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, losing 94-75 and looking overmatched for most of the 48 minutes. Given the common narratives and the form of this loss, it's likely that LeBron James will get a lot of criticism. Oddly enough, one of the opposing players thought LeBron choked while the game was still going on. Near the end of the third quarter, Pacers wing Danny Granger grabbed James' jersey on a breakaway and caused a little tiff between the two stars. Granger was given a technical foul, and LeBron missed the free throw. That made Indiana benchwarmer Lance Stephenson perform a Reggie Miller-esque choking gesture. It was in poor taste, but it also stood in for many NBA fans' reactions to the game. fter the jump, look at the Granger foul that led to this incident, as well as some thoughts on whether or not James actually choked in this game. What's curious about Stephenson's gesture is that LeBron and Mario Chalmers were the only two members of the Heat who played well in the game. James wasn't at his absolute best, but his line of 22 points (10-of-22 shooting), seven rebounds and three assists at least gave Miami a chance. As our Kelly Dwyer explains, the real problems were that Dwyane Wade had one of the worst games of his career and that Indiana completely dominated the paint. In 1999, Josh Stepakoff was 6 years old and a camper at the North Granada Hills Jewish Community Center when he was shot by a white supremacist. He was walking into the center after a game of Capture The Flag when he was attacked. One of the guns used by the shooter was purchased illegally from an unlicensed dealer at a gun show in Spokane, Washington.

The third game in the Wily Wars collection is Mega Man 3, one of my favorite games in the series. Reasons include the new Rush items (which are an improvement over the generic Mega Man 2 items), the new sliding feature which allows me to complete stages faster (and have an easier time dodging bosses) and the Doc Robot (who copies the weapons of Mega Man 2 robot masters). According to the game's story at MMKB, Dr. Wily claims he had changed since Mega Man 2 and is now working with Dr. Light to create Gamma, a giant "peace-keeping robot". They created eight new robot masters together, but some reason the robots have gone crazy and run away. They are protecting eight elements that both doctors need to complete Gamma, so Mega Man must defeat the robot masters and retrieve the elements. To help Mega Man complete his task, Dr. Light created Rush, Mega Man's robot dog partner, who can transform into a spring board, a jet sled and a submarine. Along the way, Mega Man meets a mysterious red robot called Break Man, whose true identity will be revealed at the end of the game; but for now, I will not spoil it. In this episode, I take down an entire troop of Trainers on the way to see Bill on Route 25. -------------- Originally starting as an April Fools Day joke in 2009, Marriland's Pokemon Yellow Adventure was met with very positive reception, so I continued the series from there. In 2010, I stopped producing Pokemon Yellow videos to focus on SoulSilver and my website, but in October 2011, over on my website, I continued where the series left off, with new episodes starting from Episode 38 and on. Marriland's Pokemon Yellow Adventure has always been a lighthearted, entertaining playthrough as opposed to a tutorial video. This is a work-in-progress look at the Darkdawn: Lost Worlds demo. My final project at SCAD, it is more of an exercise in creating a unique and full featured interaction system than an actual full game. The objectives of this project are: 1) To become proficient in creating good looking visuals while dealing with a Tablet's constraints and 2) To create a full featured third person control scheme that allows adventure-game style interaction and varied combat systems, including the ability to switch from melee to ranged combat. This is achieved by changing the controls and camera type. The project still has two weeks of very intense work to go. Many thanks to Kevin Ridgeway, also from SCAD, who is working on the character animations.

Final Fantasy Adventure! Sure there is an enhanced remake on the GBA with better visuals and arranged music but nothing beats the original for me. For its time, it had one of the best stories on the handheld, a very large world with different climates to explore, and cool bosses to battle. Of course, I have to applaud Kenji Itō for composing a stellar soundtrack filled with nostalgic tunes which I still listen to just by themselves. Final Fantasy Adventure was the game that got me interested in action RPGs like it's spiritual sequel Secret of Mana, Soul Blazer and Beyond Oasis to name a few. Marriland's Pokemon Platinum Adventure Part 20! In this episode, I take on the sixth Gym Leader in the game, Byron. He's gotten a lot tougher both in level and in moves, so be on guard! He leads with his new Magneton, which is incredibly weak to Ground-type attacks, but also Fire- and Fighting-type attacks as well. If you're using a Water-type for his other two Pokemon (a good tactic), you'll need to get through that Magneton and its strong attacks first. His Steelix has been upgraded with Earthquake, which will hit pretty darn hard, and his Bastiodon is as fierce as ever, although it can also reflect damage done thanks to Metal Burst. Water-type attacks work well against those two if you don't have any of the weaknesses of Steel-type Pokemon. -------------- My Pokemon Platinum Adventure series was released back in 2009 right at the launch of Pokemon Platinum. The entire video series was completed and uploaded within 9 or 10 days, with over 50 GB of videos being uploaded to YouTube. His ghosts are completely immune to Normal-, Fighting-, and even Ground-type attacks, so you have to plan your strategy carefully against him! His Gengar is the biggest threat, striking very fast and hitting just as hard with Shadow Ball. The strategy shown in this video involves using a Stantler that can be caught just to the south on Route 37, so if you're having difficulty with Morty, try that. -------------- HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of the classic games for the Gameboy Color, Pokemon Gold and Silver, except they are improved with better graphics and for the Nintendo DS now. Marriland's Pokemon Platinum Adventure Part 17! In this episode, I take on the fifth Gym Leader of the game, Crasher Wake. He uses the same three Water-type Pokemon he used in Diamond and Pearl, but they now have much higher levels and stronger moves, so you really have to be on your toes against him! Electric- and Grass-type attacks are the only things good against Water-type Pokemon, but Gyarados is resistant to Grass while Quagsire is resistant to Electric, so you may need to mix your strategy up a bit. What are you all looking forward to? Did I miss any action games that you're really anticipating? I'm sure I did! There's definitely quite a few games I couldn't get even decent trailer footage of (Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam and Natural Selection 2 are just two) and I do wish I had some proper gameplay footage for some of the ones I did include (most notably, Deus Ex: Human Revolutions) :( In any case, the only thing sadder than me buying just about all of these shooter games is that I'll probably spend more time playing Dwarf Fortress which is available as free donationware. Game trailer begins at 2:00 "MAG: Massive Action Game," Unveiled by Andy Beaudoin from Zipper Interactive, MAG — whose trailer looked like "SOCOM set 15 years into the future," according to our eyes on the scene, will immerse players in large online battles of up to 256 players. The trailer featured multiple terrain types, complex tactics, and sounds very much like a SOCOM MMO at this stage. Character growth will be accomplished through an advancement tree, which allows players to fine tune their players throughout massive campaigns. "MAG will deliver an intense and long lasting shooter experience," said Beaudoin, who also described the game as "a workout even for the PS3 architecture." This will be a PS3 exclusive! Zipper are aiming for a "Spring 2009" release date so keep and eye out for it!

Classic Game Room reviews the ACTION REPLAY 4M PLUS card for Sega Saturn, also known as a 4 in 1 card or Action Replay cartridge. It gives players the ability to play import games on a Sega Saturn from a different region, for instance CGR can play Japanese (Japan only) releases on an American Sega Saturn with this Action Replay card that easily defies region encoding without problem. The Action Replay card also acts as a memory expander to save Sega Saturn game files and allow gameplay of Capcom games needing 4MB memory like X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Action Replay card comes with cheat codes for various games to jump ahead levels or become invincible, additional codes available.
